Charles B. Knapp

Director of Educational Development, CF Foundation

Chuck Knapp is an economist, educator, and former university president. He currently serves as Director of Educational Development for the CF Foundation and as Chairman of the Board of the East Lake Community Foundation, the organization responsible for leading the revitalization of the East Lake community in Atlanta. Dr. Knapp was President and Professor of Economics at the University of Georgia from 1987 to 1997 and is now the President Emeritus of the University. He was President of the Aspen Institute from 1997 to 1999, and from 2000 to 2004 was a Partner with the executive search firm Heidrick and Struggles. Earlier in his career, Dr. Knapp served as the Executive Vice President of Tulane University and was the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training during the Carter Administration. He was a member of the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin from 1972 to 1977. From 1996 to 1997, he was the Chair of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges.
